I love it. She doesn't exactly have the best vocals but the desperation in her voice for this fit the vibe of the song very well. Great tender ballad coming from Paula.

I like this, but I prefer Blowing Kisses in the Wind I think.

It works, she's not a great singer, but this really does knock my socks off, her best

One of Paula's best. She really had a grip on the late 80's, early 90's!

I liked it at the time and do now to an extent, but it doesn't really hold up well for the long run.

i think RUSH RUSH is a beautful song. it was SO huge. i remember MTV played it every hour on the hour. and they would do Paula Abdul weekends on MTV. as far as her ballads, i think Blowing Kisses is the better ballad of the two. also IF I WERE YOUR GIRL is one of her best ballads. i think Spellbound is her overall best album

Phenomenal. I would love to see an alt-rock band re-do it, bring it into another dimension.
Side note: not 100% sure if it's accurate bc wikipedia is my source, but Prince co-wrote this? I can hear the influence if this is true.

^Not sure where that info is coming from. There's no mention of Prince i nthe credits on the album (or on the GH).
Prince was responsible for "U," though.

^ It apparently states that he did co-produce this song, but that doesn't extend to the lyrics - those were written solely by Peter Lord (member of The Family Stand).

Tyra Bolling had a cute track a few years ago "Givin' Me A Rush" that interpolated parts of Rush Rush with Michael Jackson's "Human Nature."
Anyway, RR is one of my favorite Paula tracks.

I rater enjoy it. Killer production and fine delivery. Paula was going to have a smash with a lead single from a second album. I think my mom thought it was push push as well before knowing the title.

This was SO HUGE at the time. I remember it being inescapable, all over the radio, MTV. I have very vivid memories of going to the water park every weekend with my cousin, they always had music playing over the PA system. This and "More Than Words" were both big at the same time and were played like every five minutes.
I love this and most of her singles.

Such a great song, Paula's emotion really comes through on this song and sells it for me. One of my favorite songs of all time and my favorite from Paula.

Certainty her best ballad track but I do prefer other songs from her like "Straight Up" and "Knocked Out". Was played on B96 and the AC stations (like Lite FM 93.9) in my market when it came out.

30 years ago today, Paula Abdul had the No.1 Pop Album and the No.1 single for the 2nd time in her career with her 2nd album "Spellbound" and its first single "Rush Rush." She previously did so in March 1990 with her debut album "Forever Your Girl" and her fourth No.1 hit "Opposites Attract." "Rush Rush" started a 5-week run at No.1 on the Hot 100 Singles chart. It also spent 5 weeks at No.1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. It was so massive that it crossed over to the Hot R & B Singles chart, peaking at No.20. I love it, she conveyed the urgency and longing in the lyric so well.
