Jude reminds me of an early version of John Mayer or Ryan Adams. This was probably his least successful single but it was my absolute favorite. What do you guys think?

I don't think I have any opinion of this song, tell the truth, in fact I think I heard this after the one unforgettable song IMO that he did, "Start The Car." I' think they may be on the same album, I picked up a used promo minus case of album that "...Car" was on, and knew there was another decent track on there, IIRC this is kinda midtempo without being syrupy.
And without throwing this thread off course, I really, really love "...Car" I used to play that weekly in my new rock sets when I DJed at a bar; to me it was the perfect song to be used for a Michelob or Bud Light ad. And I hope this guy was approached to do that and turned it down cause he didn't wanna compromise himself. "...Car" did absolutely nothing in NY area radio wise, but when I played it at bar, mixed in carefully with some familiar stuff, it did get some nodding heads.

Yep, "Tell The Truth" was on the same album as "Start The Car"... both very underrated tracks that disappeared from the airwaves far too quickly. (Even his biggest hit, "Baby It's Tonight", doesn't get the attention it deserves.) :'(

"Tell The Truth" is a great song and didn't get anywhere near as much exposure as it deserved. That song and his Top 40 miss from early 1991, "House Full Of Reasons" are my favorite songs by him.

The fact that Jude Cole didn't get a lot of play is probably why I appreciate his songs even more now, even if I don't hear them a lot. I heard "Tell the Truth" about a week or two in a grocery store.

I have the Start the Car cassette single and the song A Place In The Line is on the b-side. Is that song on the album or just the single. I ended up listening to it more than I did Start...
