Many people don't know that Gwen Stefani's "Rich Girl" was actually a remake not only of Fiddler on The Roof, but of a fairly obscure track by Louchie Lou and Michie One, a reggae duo. In my opinion, this version is far superior and I know that recently, Z100 and Q102 were both giving this one gold spins. Great track, but naturally iTunes doesn't have it or "10 Out Of 10."

I heard this song a couple of weeks ago also. I like this one a little better than Gwen Stefani's cover.

Great song. It's much, much better than the Gwen Stefani version.

Peaked at #12 on the Bubbling Under the Hot 100 chart in late 1994.

It is better than Gwen's version even though I like that one too. Z100 still plays this sometimes.

Z100 still plays this sometimes. Q102 too. XM U-Pop plays a weird mix of this. Much worse than the normal radio version.

That's pretty funny if Gwen was trying to make it out to be her idea. In New York, this song was a huge club hit in '93-'94, and I know Z-100 played it sporadically when Ini Kamoze's "...Hotstepper" was popular. They also played "Action" and "Murder She Wrote" for a bit.
I've been getting back into a lot of these dancehall songs lately. (Probably because I just reimported a bunch of cds with them.)

It was played a lot in Europe in spring/summer 1993, along with another single from them called "Shout (It Out Loud)".
