This is one of my favorite songs by Janet Jackson. It spent several weeks at #2. I was so distraught that it didn't make it to #1. And even more upset that it fell out of the Top 40 (Billboard only) before "Come Back To Me" debuted. Janet had a nice streak going, but there was a one-week gap between this song and "CMTM." Oh well, at least she did much better in R&R.

Actually, I think this song peaked at #4 on the Hot 100. A big hit, but still her least successful single from the Rhythm Nation CD. (Oddly, none of Janet's Rhythm Nation singles rose higher than #15 in the UK. This is funny, because that was her commerical peak in the US) This is a great song. Lots of cool studio mixing and technical tricks -- a great example of Jam & Lewis's excellent production skills. I like the album version more than the video/ single/ greatest hits mix... If anyone hasn't seen the video, you must check it out immediately.

for me... her weakest song in the rhythm nation era. the video was cute tho... and heavy d's presence in the single version made the song better. but not by much...

It's very strange that Janet didn't have much success in the UK with the RN1814 singles. I don't think she did much promotion at all in the UK.

I like this song ALOT. Its just that the other songs were all sooo good on RN1814. Man this is right on par with the other released singles.

This would probably be my least favorite song from RN1814. The whoops you hear throughout the song are about as annoying as many people found the "ahh"s in "Dilemma" by Nelly and Kelly. The same goes for the title track, although I like that song a little better.

Not one of my absolute favorites on 'Rhythm Nation', but it's still very good.

I prefer the single version with those great horns at the end. Overall this is one of my lesser favorites off RN1814, all of the other singles were much better, but this is still a good song by its own merits. I'd take this over So Excited anyday.

I agree on the edited version, I think I did my own edit because it becomes overlong. This is gold!

Not my favorite from the Rhythm Nation 1814 album, but I still like it.
Also hit #1 Dance and #2 R&B.

I never really genuinely loved this song - but there was a certain magic about it nonetheless. The video! The whole era was so amazing. I have no ill words to speak of Alright - I appreciate the artistry - it's just my least favorite of all the singles.
I personally think of this as a 90s song, for what it's worth. The single was released and charted in 1990.

LOVE IT, such a feel-good song and I love how she switched up the vocal delivery on this one. I prefer the single mixes to the album version though, there are a few touches that are missing on the original, like the funky breakdown and the horns at the end. I do like how long the album version is though. If you have a killer instrumental, I say let that sh*t ride out.
The video is classic.

My earliest memories of Janet was this song! I grew up hearing the remix with Heavy D. The video is iconic!

Another solid track from the "Rhtyhm Nation" album, though not my favorite as I prefer "Miss You Much", "Escapade", "Black Cat", "Love Will Never Do Without You", and "Come Back To Me".

Any song about friendship is a song I like. This one is an awesome piece of Pop/R & B candy. Heavy D's rap gave it an extra energy that took it to another level. And that phenomenal video!
