Five years ago this week in 2000 it was at #2 on the AC chart, eventually reaching #1. Full stream.

I used to like this song a lot, and for a long time. But then, I suddenly grew tired of it, which showed by its downward trend on my Personal Top 30 chart. Sort of a chart regret as it spent many weeks at #1 and on the chart. It ended up becoming the #2 song of the year. Fortunately, Ricky Martin & Meja prevented it from being #1 for the entire year.

Five years ago this week in 2000, it fell from #1 to #2 on the AC chart. It spent four weeks at #1 there.

I really like this track. Unfortunately, it became a song that wouldn't die on the AC chart, especially on AT20 with Casey. I remember people thinking that Don bought a condo for Casey to keep him on the chart!!! ;)

Wasn't "Taking You Home" also on the R&R chart for numerous weeks? If so, then why was it such a big deal on AT20 if it managed 70+ weeks?

Remember back then, AT20 was using some weird chart based on audience impressions or something, and so some songs just never went away.

Yes, I remember hearing that whole condo thing too. Wasn't "Taking You Home" also on the R&R chart for numerous weeks? If so, then why was it such a big deal on AT20 if it managed 70+ weeks? It dropped off R&R's chart before it did on AT20. Remember back then, AT20 was using some weird chart based on audience impressions or something, and so some songs just never went away. Actually, by that time (which was late October, 2001), they went back to using the R&R chart. Technically, it did drop off the R&R chart the week before it left AT20, but that's because the countdowns were always behind the R&R chart by one week. Moreover, when they were using the oddball Mediabase chart, it was the other way around; songs generally dropped off the AT20 chart well before they dropped from the R&R chart, due to some hidden recurrent rule they had. They seemed to do random chart purges. Their first one was the week they started using the new chart in October, 2000 (with six old songs dropping off the chart, including what was then the record holder, "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins.) The next time they did it was in late March, 2001, when three old songs were removed from the chart and then again in late April, with three more songs, none of which had been on the chart as long as the songs they dropped a month before. There were even a few songs that had been on for longer that managed to stay on. I did like how this kept the chart fresh, though; listeners got to hear many songs that they otherwise wouldn't have, because they peaked below #20 on the R&R chart.

I liked this song but I always thought the squeaking at the end was kinda funny. I was surprised it did as well as it did on Hot AC.

Decent song. B98.5 in Atlanta used to play it a lot when I was living there.

I used to not like this at all (thought it sounded like a Backstreet Boys song or something), but I can appreciate it now. It's nowhere near as strong as his earlier solo material though.
Looks like the studio version isn't on YouTube, but check out Don as a victim of turn of the Millennium fashion below:

Another song I forgot all about. One of my friends just posted it on Facebook.
