I love this song to death. I thought for sure this would've done better at pop radio. It should have. L.A. and Babyface wrote and produced it. I bought it not too long after I first heard it back in 1988. Paula was still a big question mark in the eyes and ears of pop radio when this song was released, and it remained that way until requests started coming in for "Straight Up" (her 3rd release), and that caught fire.

My fav. Paula Abdul song ever, idk something about it was perfectly urban-ish and I enjoy that. I know most people hate this song, but w/e it's the shit.

I like this, about as equally as the other FYG singles. My least favorite probably is "(It's Just) The Way That You Love Me." The label should have pushed this again, after the three No. 1s she had. That, or really pushed it more as a single from Shut Up and Dance (in the USA, that is).

I'm only here for the hard-hitting album version. The remix sucks.

JAM. That LA Reid/Babyface sound of the late 80's/early 90's remains ace. I'm used to the album version, simply because that's the version I always played, but the remix is fine.

This should have been THE HIT. I was so disappointed that they never re-released this song once she hit it big. They had a whole year before her second album came out, they could have easily re-released like the Pointer Sisters did successfully with I'm So Excited.
This song - and so many other classics of the 80's - got stuck at #41.
The album version is the best version, IMO

This was my favorite back in the late 80s. I don't like it as much now, but it's still solid.
I thought it was re-released?

I didn't know this was her first single as I always assumed it was "Straight Up", which was her breakout hit. Although "Knocked Up" wasn't as successful when it first came out, this is one of my favorite singles from her. I assumed it was played as an 80s flashback on the AC stations and on B96 (which did played this song when it first came out after reading through all their airplay lists on all those radio trade magazines) in my market.

I was today years old when I learned Babyface and Reid told Abdul she couldn't sing, kicked her out of the studio, and said they'd finish this song without her.
