Here's the deal: I have heard this song quite a few times before, but I never really liked it.
But I've heard it on the radio a couple of times lately and now I'm kinda feeling it. It's one of BDK's bigger hits featuring a rare rap from Spinderella (of Salt -N- Pepa). The melody and beat on this song are both pretty hot [even though they're borrowed from other songs]
It's from about 1993 or 1994. Anyone else remember this one?

Yeah I remember this song. It's decent. I never really cared for the song though I like it a little bit but Big Daddy Kane sample way too much. I think this was his last hit single. I dont remember anything after "Very Special"

Yeah, I remember hearing it on Casey's Top 40. It used the same "Very Special" sample as J.Lo's "All I Have".

The song was a rare #40 peak on the CHR chart around late summer of that year. I don't remember hearing it when it was popular, but I did recently hear it on the August 28 CT40 show that I was listening to one night while I was surfing the net. It was OK, but nothing spectacular (the first thing I noticed was that it sampled the same song that "All I Have" by J-Lo featuring LL Cool J did).

Actually this was probably more a remake than a sample. I can't say for sure since I don't remember hearing this version. The original was by "Very Special" by Debra Laws which peaked, I believe in the 80's or 90's on Billboard's Hot 100 sometime around 1980 (?).
The first thing I liked about JLo's "All I Have" was the sample, it made it instantly familiar to me.

Nothing comes close to Debra's version.

my favorite use of that sample was in Mary J. Blige & Grand Puba's "What's The 411?"... Hilarious song.

I was a BDK fan from "Set It Off" "Raw" and "Ain't No Half Steppin" and looooooooove "I Get The Job Done" and to me this was a total sellout.
