Diana's tribute to Marvin Gaye, produced by Lionel Richie. It was a huge #1 US R&B hit in 1985 (though it failed in the UK)... Much of her 1980s stuff was crap, but I like this one.
Normally Diana Ross was pretty lazy with her vocal performances. But on occasion, she'd release a record that would remind you that she actually WAS a good singer. This is one of those records.

I totally agree. I loath Ms. Ross' singing and attitude, but this is one of her performances that I can't deny. This along with 'The Boss' and 'Love Hangover' are my favs from her.

This was a Top 20 hit on R&R back in the spring of 1985. I liked it a lot, until this girl in my class at school kept singing the "I feel so broken-hearted, ah..." part over and over again. Since I found that girl annoying, that sort of tarnished the song for me.

Good tribute song. A lot of Diana's solo music isn't that great, but this is an exception.

Truly gorgeous and so moving. One of my favorite solo Diana songs. This is one of the finest vocal performances she gave on any of her hits.

A terrific vocal performance from Ms. Ross (a rarity for her, it feels authentic and inspired - perhaps thoughts of Marvin helped her emote). The track is lovely and the powerful bridge is terrific. Aaliyah's "Miss You" always reminded me of this song.

Regarding her voice, it always amazed me how her vocals were so plain, airy and soft when she was younger, yet as she grew older they started getting much stronger or something. She belted her ass off on "Missing You," "Home," "Let's Go Up," "Endless Love (Solo Version)," "One Shining Moment," "All Of You".
Anyway, I love "Missing You". Lionel Richie always wrote the best melodies and Diana took this to another level with her voice. I love 80's Diana Ross!!

The one I'm surprised didn't even get nominated is "Endless Love."
