Hard to believe this song was released about 4 years ago now in Europe and was #1 before the end of 2001. A hoary old trick (speeding up the vocal track) actually worked, and then we found out that Daniel did have a decent voice after all... sadly his latest effort didn't get released in North America. I like the D'n'D radio edit. My #2 song of 2002.

When I first heard the song, I honestly thought that MJ was on the track or something. I wasn't impressed with it at first, but it grew on me and I eventually liked it. It peaked at #6 on my chart in 2002.
His followup (James Dean), though, was terrific! :)

The first time I heard this I was like "what the hell is this crap?" I thought it was a woman! but it grew on me fast and now I like it.

His followup (James Dean), though, was terrific! :) Like "Gotta Get Thru This", "James Dean" also got to #1 on my chart and was my #8 song overall for 2002.

I really loved this song. I remember Wild 94.9 in SF playing this song a lot in their mixshows before they officially added it. Then some of the other stations began playing this too.
I preferred the Metro Radio Mix of "If You're Not The One" over this one though

^The Passengerz mix is just as good too!
I like this one a lot. I still listen to it a lot too.

I liked all three US DB singles. Gotta Get Through This was my favorite, followed by the Metro Radio Mix of If You're Not The One. James Dean was good too.

KTU played the hell out of Daniel Bedingfield, and then Z100 picked it up and it landed at #8 on their countdown for 2002...effectively beating out "Lose Yourself" which I was really happy about.
I really liked James Dean too..I wish that would have done better here.

I used to think it was "Danielle Bedingfield" because of the voice. Awesome song from an awesome-er artist. ;)

Good song. I didn't think it would do as well as it did.

I was thinking of starting a thread for this song just the other day... I guess I missed this one a few months ago. :)
Great song! I think it was either #2 or #3 on my 2002 yearend personal chart.

Gotta get Thru This peaked at #10 on the Hot 100 in 2002 I was like 11/12, so my memory is a bit fuzzy, but that hypnotic synth line sticks out in my memory

HATED it at the time, but love it now. "If You're Not The One" is actually one of my least favourite songs ever.

I remember when this track first dropped and I totally thought it was a female artist for at least a few weeks. Anyway, I love this track along with "James Dean" and "If You're Not the One"

I was just fine with this one, and it's still one of the only Eurodance-ish tracks to hit the top 5 on my personal chart. Don't remember much about "James Dean", but... "If You're Not The One" is actually one of my least favourite songs ever. You got that right.

I love this song...but "If You're Not the One" is preachy and ingratiating...Great arrangement and production...but it's way too religious for me.

A UK #1 in 2001, and also hit #2 on CHR/Pop & #10 on the Hot 100 in the US a year later. I'm fairly sure this must be one of the first & rare cases of 2-step/UK Garage songs to smash in the US.
Total jam that still sounds fresh 15 years later.

Yo, she played the fuk out of him on that subway part lmao. But I liked this video version cause it had that little part after the second verse.
