Wow! You're taking me on a looong ride in the way back machine! :o This is also my favorite EWF song and me being a lover of sad songs this fits the bill perfectly September 14, 1979 01 01 Don't Bring Me Down - ELO 02 02 Heaven Must Have Sent You - Bonnie Pointer 03 06 After The Love Has Gone - EWF 04 04 Born To Be Alive - Patrick Hernandez 05 03 I've Got THe Next Dance - Deniece Williams 06 07 Dim All The Lights - Donna Summer 07 08 Come To Me - France Joli 08 09 Lead Me On - Maxine Nightingale 09 10 The Boss - Diana Ross 10 05 The Devil Went Down To Georgia - Charlie Daniels Band AFTHG peaked at #3 for 3 weeks and was only #55 for 1979, as disco was really the dominant format on my charts back then.

Classic... one of the best ballads of the '70s (and all-time).

The tune got to #2 in 1979 spending 2 weeks behind "My Sharona" on the Hot 100 But it hit #1 on the R&R chart, and as I recall, it was the song that dethroned "My Sharona", which, I believe, fell off the R&R chart while it was still at #1 on Billboard. Hmmm... I think the other song that hit #1 on R&R during the time MS was on top of BB was "Sail On" by The Commodores. Of course, that's my favorite of the three songs. As for "After The Love Has Gone", well, I don't really remember it from when it was popular, so I heard it on the radio one time, several years after, and I liked it a lot. But eventually, I got tired of it (even though it wasn't overplayed as a recurrent/gold). I wouldn't mind hearing it once in awhile, but it's not something I'd want to hear all the time.

Maybe one day you could PM me and give me the R&R charts so I could combine the two together

This is probably the first Earth, Wind & Fire song I remember hearing. But once I heard the rest of their catalog, I realized that this tune is really much lighter and poppier than the rest of their material. Nonetheless, I like it.

I don't like it much. I prefer "September" or "Let's Just Groove" by a thousand miles.

Great for slow dancing, kinda boring otherwise. This group had some great funk classics, but they put out quite a bit of crap too. I'd put this one somewhere in the middle.

EWF is one of my favorite bands and had a lot of good music. This one's a gem. It's one of my all-time favorite songs.

I like this. They have better material than this, though.

A bit on the schlocky side for them (thank you David Foster), but I can still enjoy it from time to time.

I like it! It's in line with all the easy-listening slow jams of the era. The chorus is cute.

One of the best 70s soul/R&B ballad tunes.

LOOOVVE this! I remember this song. I think this still regularly gets played on the A/C radio. One of their classics. They can do no wrong here.
