This is one of favourite Carly Simon songs. I was in grade school when this was on the radio in the early 1980s. I coudn't forget a song especially with a proper noun used repeatedly throughout the song. This shy woman has it all! I heard this on AT40 flashback which I have on CD.

I'm assuming that would be the November 1, 1980 show, correct? Yeah, I like this song too. I remember hearing it both on the radio and the jukebox at Pizza Hut, where my Dad took my brother and I to dinner on Sunday nights back then. I'd always play it, because it was my favorite songs. Since a quarter was two plays (sigh, remember those days?), I'd play both "Jesse" and usually "Refugee" by Tom Petty. As I recall, this would be Carly's last Top 40 hit until late 1986, when "Coming Around Again" came out. |
