Now this was the very first rap song I remember being played on the radio. It made Casey's Top 40 in 1990. I don't know where it peaked on radio but on the BillBoard charts it did good:
1990 Mentirosa The Billboard Hot 100 No. 14 1990 Mentirosa Hot Latin Tracks No. 34 1990 Mentirosa Hot Rap Singles No. 15 1990 Mentirosa Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks No. 60
For some reason I really liked this song. It did end up going top 30 on my personal chart but lack of airplay hurt it in the long run.

Only went to #34 on R&R's CHR/Pop chart... I rarely heard it on the radio (Power 99 in Atlanta never played it), so I had to tape it off of American Top 40 so I could listen to it. Peaked at #9 on my personal chart. Loved the samples of the Santana songs...

I was thinking doing a topic on this song. Anyhow, I thought it was cool for a song to blend in Spanish and English and sample it over "Evil Ways". Too bad that was Ace's only hit.

Vitamin C sampled the same Santana song that Mellow Man Ace did. :)

I remember when his sister performed the female part during his live performance of this song on the "Arsenio Hall Show". Creepy :) But I still love this song...

Tremenda fletera...
This song was OK back then, but it has aged BADLY!
However, forget "Mentirosa" and check out immediately the amazing B-side, "Welcome To My Groove", which was, inexplicable, left off the album!
It was produced by Steve 'Silk' Hurley and it's simply amazing. The beats are indcredible. Around that time, Silk was, um, what would the spelling-challenged Pulsers say?... on FIYAH.
Now I'll have to dig this one and Jomanda's "Got A Love For You".

Silk was everything & more. Surely not limited to house, as exemplified by this track in question. "Mentirosa" is, like many Pulsers would rave, a SMASH.

This song got a lot of airplay on b96 back in 1990. While this song is good I liked the B Side track "Welcome To My Groove" even better as that song got heavy airplay on B96's mix show hours. Welcome to My Groove (deep house mix) www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYmcrAA8lFI
