Well, to continue our journey with the best of the worst of 1987, we come across this one hit wonder that hit number 37 in December. The Kane Gang, I thought, was a pretty whimpy name for a group, but I really liked this song. I recently heard it in a resteraunt in fact! I have the full length CD which I purchased for a couple of bucks. Another good track is "What Time Is It." I love the ending of "Motortown." where they sing "Motortown, where the cars go by, where the weeds grow high." The music leading up to the ending, and during that ending segment is great. It builds up, stops, and ends on a real nice note.
Everybody's glory bound, they got it made in motortown, Spread the news all around, they work for pennies in motortown.

A great song, sounded like something that should have gotten higher than 37 on the charts. Maybe it it had been released around 1980, it might have. The CHR/Pop charts were really lacking good music in 1987-1988, which is why I didn't like when AT40 Flashback chose those years for the series. (I speak of that show because all of the songs that Pete has mentioned were never heard on that, because of no first hour, and all these songs would only be heard in the first hour, since they all peaked in the 30s.

Me either... I remember this as the only song to fall off AT40 on the first show of 1988. The debut that replaced it was the one-week-wonder "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure.

I barely remember this, they also did a decent remake of Dennis Edwards' clasic "Don't Look Any Further."

I barely remember this, they also did a decent remake of Dennis Edwards' clasic "Don't Look Any Further." But! I do remember this quite well. While I was living in the UK, I remember it tanked over there, yet it got moderate video airplay. BTW the only song I have of theirs is their latter number one Dance Club hit "Further".

Further got to #64 on the Hot 100; a rare instance of where I've liked the remake as much as the original.

I remember this song. It only spent a couple of weeks in the AT40... so I was able to listen just a few times. A couple of years ago I got the mp3 version... I really like it.
