l"Let The Beat Hit 'Em" was the first single from 1991's "Straight Outta Hell's Kitchen".
This is a classic Civilles & Cole track. It really was the end of their career, but it was a #1 dance hit and R&B hit. This is one of my favorite songs by them and is insanely catchy. Great 90's dance tune!
Unfortunately, the follow-up tanked and they broke up later that year.
Lisa Lisa embarked on an unsuccessful solo career in 1994.

I liked this song. I remember hearing this song from Radikal's first edition of Dance Mix USA]/i]. It was a lot of fun.

Such a great track. It's funky and really has held up well despite when it comes from. I still groove to it.

There was a wonderful remix of this too-- completely re-recorded with new lyrics and everything. That was quite rare back then.

Still love this. It's the perfect weekend song. In addition to the hip hop/dance original version, there was a Part 2 version by Clivilles & Cole with a completely brand new House production, with totally new lyrics and vocals. The only similarity is the title.
I actually prefer this version over the original.

This song failed to make the R&R CHR chart.

This was one of those songs that sold by the boatload back in 1991 but didn't really break out on Pop Radio. Was huge in the dance clubs. It also did well at R&B but as I recall it fell to like #15 from number one which was a large drop compared to all the other chart toppers there that year. It's the second lowest Hot 100 charting single that went Gold that year according to my Billboard books. Still its a hot jam and wish Itunes had the video to purchase...

Great Song. I love the original mix and the house version, which is a different song altogether. (as posted on Pastor Daddy's comment above).
Was staple on my urban contemporary station (WGCI). Strangely, I did not see this song on any of B96's airplay playlists considering that it would be kind of song the station would had played then. (Many rhythmic-leaning top 40 stations did play this one) However, I did hear the house remix featured on an mid-90s B96 aircheck.
Side note, shouldn't this song be in the "1990s" thread instead of the "1980s" thread as this was released in 1991? Lisa Lisa was more popular in the late 1980s, but still.
