This is one of those novelty type songs, in my opinion. I bet it would be a Top 20 pop hit if it was released today never to be heard of again... and he wasn't anyway!

I really liked this song. IT was funny how he was poking fun at his own height. Very catchy

Reminds me of the late spring of 1995. Power 92 in Phoenix used to play it a lot then. I had it taped off the radio but accidentally erased it. :'(
"I wish I was a little bit taller. I wish I was the father..."

I wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her...
Funny video for this song, as I remember.

This was one of my favorite songs all summer in 1995. It was on MTV all the time and once local pop radio finally picked up on it (well an inferior remix of it, anyway), I was like, "This has gotta be hitting the Top 40 any day now."
...And it never did. :'(
Seriously though, the song and video were hilarious. Too bad he never got another chance. I remember he came out with an album in 2002 (or maybe 2001? Gosh, could it be that long ago?) and its first single was called "At the Mall." Not like I ever got to hear it or that anybody who had that power cared.

This was such a cute rap song. I remember it quite well around my freshman to sophomore years of high school. The video was so funny. Skee-Lo is a little "shorty." :)

That's who rapped it! Thanks. I loved this song! I even remember the video, sort of.
Wow. I just bought the album on a whim at Amazon.com for like $5 total. Haven't bought something that quickly in a while.

Topic already posted! It's probably messed up now anyways.
After reading this topic last time, I rushed to Amazon to buy his album. It's pretty chill and great.
It takes me back!

Even though I don't care for Rap much, I loved this song and being I'm 5'7", I can relate to this. I have the cassette single to it some where in my collection.

I liked it for what it was. It was a funny song, especially the chorus which I'll never forget the words to. I remember watching the video a lot and laughing when he couldn't take the basketball away from the tall dude, which I think was how the video ended.

Excellent one-hit wonder from rapper Skee-Lo. This one is noteworthy because a rapper cleverly and boldly provided self-depreciating humor to a hot beat--a rarity even to this day 10 years later. Could you imagine 50 poking fun at himself in such a way? No! A minor hip hop classic. This one's the extended mix. One! s50.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2FSI78PA90EUG0ZSPN48XJY9C3

That was a funny track. The video got a lot of play on The Box when it came out. I haven't heard it in ages.

I like the song, too.
The Box was acquired by Viacom in 2000--and merged with M2 to become MTV 2.
