Definitely one of their best. Amazing track, no questions asked.
And, I hear this a lot on the radio, which is a good sign.
Your thoughts?

As much as I like U2, I never liked this song.

I didn't used to appreciate this, but now I see it for the genius that it is.
One of my top 5 U2 songs.

For all the airplay that it got (and still gets on 80s stations), it's hard to believe this song petered out at number fifteen after two #1 songs (good example of TSS, hmm?)

Definitely one of their best ever! It still makes me cry listening to it, especially after it was dedicated to the 9/11 families.
It would be beautiful to see a future without names for streets, without countries, without districts, only one land where the road meets all.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

John Lennon's "Imagine", anyone? Well I wasn't thinking of John Lennon just then, but, without a doubt, I think he has influenced virtually all rock lover's minds! Perhaps I should start a topic of his own. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I have always loved this. It has some of Bono's strongest vocals, and the song picks up more as it gets to the chorus. Definitely a great song. One of the highlights of the great-though-way-overrated Joshua Tree.

Classic U2. Hard to dislike the song. Most friends of mine think that the earliest material from U2 is actually their worst ("New Years Day", "Pride"), and the "Pop" era, but that it was IMPOSSIBLE to dislike the "Joshua Tree" and "Unforgettable Fire" eras. Overall I kind of agree with them, though I liked their earliest material too. I'd say their weakest part of their career was probably between "Achtung Baby" and "All That You Can't Leave Behind". Sincerely, Noah Eaton

It's always interesting to see what different songs mean to different people. I read in an interview a long time ago that 'Streets' was inspired by Bono's humanitarian aid trip to a tent city in Ethiopia (hence the streets that have no name), but it's since taken on a life of its own. The 9/11 dedication at the Super Bowl was brilliant.

Great song. A classic, IMO. I thought I heard it was about his trip to Central America. Can't remember though. Hey, I heard MB20 covered this on this last tour. I was psyched to hear it was sung at the Atlanta show that was taped for their DVD. But, I hear it won't be on the DVD. Bummer. Love to see good covers of classic songs.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame had an exhibit on U2 last year. Really cool. They showed all of their concert movies too. I saw a great movie on the making of Joshua Tree. Very interesting.

Excellent song from an excellent album. Even to this day, those opening guitar riffs run a few chills down my spine. That has to be the best beginning for a song I've ever heard, which is saying something.

Was a great song. Actually became more familiar with as another singer used it in a concert tour as his opening. Says volumes in it. I had also heard it was from a trip to Ethopia.

Definitely in my Top 5 U2 songs. Love it.
The scene where this plays at the end of Fearless makes me tear up.
