The First of the 2000s Celebrity Get Together Songs. This song had a fast rise and fall on the Billboard Charts. The EP debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200 Albums.

I was very impressed with the song altogether. I thought every singer from every genre presented something serious to get our attention. I was impressed that this Marvin Gaye remake added a much more awareness of AIDS to not just in African nations, but here at home as well. I love it!

It was good up until Nelly's part (Shit, I even liked Ja Rule's part). Nelly's part fit the song, however the 2 rappers and Fred Durst that came after just ruined it.

This was a really great update to the classic. The original is still much better though.
As I was digging through some DVD-R's of music I have downloaded over the years, I found a Junior Vasquez mix of this that I had forgotten that I had. It was a really great mix actually. He kept all the vocals in his mix.

I didn't really like this at all... And, to be honest, the only Marvin Gaye cover that I've ever enjoyed was "After The Dance" by Fourplay featuring El DeBarge. The others have pretty much paled in comparison to the original versions IMHO.

This song worked very well EXCEPT Fred Durst's part. It was terrible.
Nelly Furtado was great.

The tune reached #27 on Hot 100 in 2001 and in my opinion the worst all-star benefit record to chart replacing "Voices That Care" for that honor.
