One of my favorite songs of the past 5 years. Their album was incredible.

It sure was! I love the Strokes. This was a great song, thanks for the reminder.

I thought the album was pretty good, but I don't think I'd go as far as to call it "incredible".
The funny thing is that this song was right next to the "American Girl" topic and they both have similar rhythms. I always thought of this song as "good, not great".

I always thought this song was overrated, especially in comparison to the singles from the second album. I mean, it's kinda catchy, but it's just pretty bland as well. I also didn't like how they recorded a live version for the video instead of using regular version, even though I do appreciate the uniqueness of doing that.
"Hard to Explain" was also much better than this, in my opinion.

Agreed. I liked "Hard to Explain" more, too. And "Reptilia" from their new album.
This song was cool. But (in my opinion) not worthy of all the praise that it got. People were calling them the next Beatles and stuff. It was getting annoying for a while there.

Yeah the critic's obsession with them got a little tiresome. The Beatles comparison was a little strange (although I don't understand all the hype about The Beatles anyway). But despite all the excessive praise, they had a great album to back it up - at least in my opinion.
Their second album was good - but a bit of a dissappointment.

First Album was really good, Second Album was kind of sophomore slump but had some great cuts like 12:51, The End of No End, and Reptilia, all three singles. Anyways, Last Nite was great, and I'm expecting the third album from the Strokes to be their biggest of the three. The alternative format has really bought into their sound, and I think if 12:51, or Last Nite was released today, they would both be crossover hits to pop.
I saw the Strokes in concert in Columbus, and must say it was one of the best shows I have ever attended.

I like the guitar riffs in this song but not the singing.

Great song, but "Hard To Explain" was even better.

Out of all the singles released by the "The" bands, this one would rank right up near the top, and ahead of all subsequent singles by The Strokes.
Still, while I haven't written it off yet, I just didn't really dig the Is This It? album as much as I expected to, and I wasn't interested enough in buying Room On Fire. They came off as a singles band to me. They haven't released a single I didn't like, although it took a long time for "12:51" to come around, and there was a period of time spanning a couple weeks where I was saying the song sucked.
