Reminds me of my freshman year of college. I'd quietly try and listen to the countdown while my roommate in the dorm room was trying to sleep.
Anyhoo, it didn't do so great. 40-37-33-33

I bought the single and then the CD, both were great. Critically the production was way too processed! The album lacked originality even though I enjoyed it at the same time. A number of songs on there were based on other hits. I first heard Sydney Youngblood when I had a shortwave radio at the time. I'd listen to the BBC Worldservice Top 20 occasionally and "If Only I Could" (based on Raze's dance hit "Break 4 Love") made the top 5. I liked the song based on hearing just a clip of that song. I waited so long to hear from this artist here in the US. And it finally happened I was soooo happy! Despite the lack of creativity that I have heard on the CD, I still give the CD 4/5, really. There are some infectious tracks on there that spelled out the "European R&B" sound of the early 1990s.

I just barely remember the chorus to this song but that's it.

I'd Rather Go Blind peaked at #46 in 1990. Also, was this a remake of a tune by Chicken Shed back in 1969?

And British soul singer Ruby Turner had hit with that same song in 1987 which is the only other version that I heard and i heard her's of course first. It was horrid IMO. Anyway it peaked at #24 on the UK charts.
