this was the smash from their "Black" Album, it was also their very first ballad. I absoultely love the way everything fits together, and though i dislike the band after the whole Napster fiasco, they still have some very fine tracks, such as this.
what y'all think?

These guys are absolutely legendary. "Nothing Else Matters" is an awesome ballad. My favorite Metallica ballad, though, would have to be "The Unforgiven", also from their Black CD I believe. "No Leaf Clover" is one of their later songs, from 1999, but a good one.
I've listened to a few tracks from St. Anger; they seem to have taken a bit of a new direction in their music, but I really like the title track. "Frantic" is ok, but I got a little tired of it after a while.
Great band.

Well, it was in the "Your Top 10: Metallica" thread. My top 2 are "Enter Sandman" and "Fade to Black".

An outstanding song; could at a given time top my list of best songs of the '90's. So could their 2 "Unforgiven" songs.

It's okay, but there are tracks by them that I prefer. "One" is my fav, with "Fade To Black" right behind. However, I thought it was decent. You might think that this is weird, but I think that "Little Black Backpack" by Stroke 9 sounds a lot like this song.

I just downloaded Staind's live version of this song from MTV's Metallica Icon show. I would recommend it to everyone who has not yet heard it. It's a short 2 minute version but great nonetheless. I think I like it better that Korn's version of "One" :o

This tune went to #34 on the Hot 100 and it was their most played tune on top 40 radio among the five hits from the Black Album

Eh, not a big fan of this but I thought the part in the video where Lars Ulrich was throwing darts at a photo of Kip Winger was hilarious. I like Winger btw.
