While he sends "Think About You" to the Urban formats, he's sending this to Adult Contemporary. This is nowhere near as strong as "Think About You". It uses acoustic instruments.

Ehhh...Luther's ain't nearly as good as the original. Alison Krauss's harmonies make that song.

Kenny Rogers & Alison Kraus had a number one country hit in four years ago with the definitive version of "Buy Me A Rose". It also had Billy Dean. I remember Billboard said it was a big deal for Kenny to come all the way back to get a Country Number 1.

LUTHER VANDROSS Buy Me a Rose Producer(s): Shep Crawford Writer(s): J. Funk, E. Hickenlooper Publisher(s): Rex Benson Music/Stone Forest Music/Tripp Tunes, Blue Plate Music Publishing, BMI Label/Catalog Number: J Records J1DJ-59157-2 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: March 27, 2004 Velvet-voiced Luther Vandross has never met a ballad he couldn't make his own. "Buy Me a Rose" is no exception. This time around, the multi-Grammy Award winner teams with producer Shep Crawford, who is also no slouch in the ballad department. (He crafted Deborah Cox's "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here.") Crawford's sparse, guitar-laced arrangement is the perfect accompaniment to Vandross' sweet tenor. Both bring to life lyrics about a relationship disconnect that can be solved by simple things. "Buy me a rose/Call me from work/Open a door for me/What would it hurt/Show me you love me by the look in your eyes/ These are the little things I need the most in my life," Vandross sings in the chorus. In light of the artist's current condition, the song takes on even more poignancy.—GM

Dance With My Father was better, and the original song was better (I vaguely remember it...)
But this version isn't bad. Maybe it'll grow on me.
