Just heard this on the Joe Cortez Retro-Pop Reunion show Sunday night. First time I heard it. It's quite a 180 from their signature "Wild, Wild West". Pretty nice song with touchy lyrics. At least it went top 10, surprised it wasn't a bigger AC hit. Anyone remember/heard this one?

Love this song. Worlds better than the deadful "Wild Wild West". WPLJ pulls it our every once in awhile, and I'm gonna play it now.

Great song. It seems like it should have been remembered more. It has been used as a Long-Distance Dedication a few times at least.

I heard it on the radio about two or three weeks ago locally. I thought this would be a song that could get a heavy amount of airplay now, but for some reason, it didn't.

I didn't remember this one, but I just listened to it. Nice song. AC radio should give this a spin every once in a while... I looked at the Mediabase Quickcut Info and this song gets virtually no airplay these days.
"I'll Be There" made it up to #8 on the Hot 100, but the album peaked at #145!

Pretty song, a nice change from their dance stuff of the 80's. However any time I've heard it in recent years, it's been associated with someone remembering someone who died, which is an association that's kind of hard to shake when you hear it each time.

Well I've been continuing to listen to this frequently on my Ipod. I can honestly say IMO that it is a crime how this song has practically disappeared from the annals of pop/AC airplay over the years. I just think it's great. Cool video too, which I recently viewed on YouTube. Perhaps this song is a little too sad to be played during these days? I dunno.

1991. From what I recall, the song was made after the death of a friend's wife.

"I'll Be There" made it up to #8 on the Hot 100, but the album peaked at #145! It was also the second single. The first, "Call it Poison", reached #28 on R&R but missed AT40, stopping at #44 on the Hot 100. In that sense, you could call this one a surprise hit. Pretty song, a nice change from their dance stuff of the 80's. However any time I've heard it in recent years, it's been associated with someone remembering someone who died, which is an association that's kind of hard to shake when you hear it each time. Not surprising, given that the song's narrator is quite clearly dead. Actually - maybe it's just me, but that makes this song somewhat unusual among ones that involve remembering someone who's passed on...in how many others do they come right out and say that someone/the singer died, in the lyrics? In any case, I first heard this just yesterday, listening to the 8/17/1991 AT40 (the week it was both in the countdown and a LDD). It's probably a toss-up between this and "Wild, Wild West"; I like that one too.

I like this when it was out. Haven't heard it in years.
