Her voice suits this song just perfectly ... the lyrics are simple yet perfect .. i love the delivery of the first verse ...
"oh lover boy To you i belong Maybe one you'll wake and you'll find me gone but loverboy if you call me home i'll come driving i'll come driving fast as wheels can turn"
I Love Everything But The Girl .. especially their dance mixes too.

Ooh, I love this song! It has a very hypnotic effect to it, with its relaxing melody and sax solo near the end.
I always thought this song sounded a lot like "I Can't Tell You Why" by the Eagles, only much better. When I first heard it, I thought it was by Sade, since it sounds like the kind of song that she'd sing.

Believe it or not this is their first R&B charted US single. I saw this on Video Soul. kinda sounds like a Sade song. Oh yeah and KDKO (Denver) played this on their "quiet storm"

i'm a big big big Everything but the girl fan (i sure there is a bit or irony there but ... moving on lol). i think some of their stuff is sooooooooooooooo soooooooo underrated. "Driving" is just one of those simple songs with simple lyrics but overall, it's pure perfection!
p.s. i should have clarified, i was talking about the accoustic version (not the original).

^ well, the original ain't that bad, neither is the todd terry mix ... but like i said before, it's all about the acoustic version for me on this one. of all the underrated albums EBTG has (and by this, i mean prior to their massive hit "missing")... worldwide is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! lol.

the original is alright, but the slowed-chilled-out sound in the accoustic version that brings out the vocals. it's all about the accoustic mix for me 2.
i like "Missing" but i think it's one of their weaker songs but definitely catchy ass hell. Their catalogue has some great great songs that should have propelled them into universal startdom .. it's too bad North America i so into the 'pop'ular music .. this is the good shit!

I don't believe I've ever heard the acoustic version. The only one I remember hearing is the original, which I would occasionally hear on WHFB at night, when they'd play automated tapes, containing many obscure songs (sort of like WEFM does now).

I definitely prefer the original, it was in my Top 30 of 1990.

The Acoustic version of this is just simply stunning. This was cleverly included on the Adapt Or Die remix album last year.

Yes, it was included right next to the phenomenal and FLAWLESS slowed version of 'Temperamental" (Pull Timewrap Remix) ... another fantastic reworked version of the original! The "I don't want you to love me" lines are just... well... haunting ... it's true!!!!!!!!! Her voice is perfectly suited for depressing songs because she radiates and emits this raw sadness ... or perhaps it's just me... lol

There's only a handful of songs by them that I really love prior to the Amplified Heart album, but this is definitely one of them. Beautiful song. I might prefer the acoustic version as well. The original has a bit of a date adult contemporary sound at this point, but despite being released not that long after the original, the acoustic version fits in with their later material much better and still sounds fresh.
They also did more remixes of this after they broke through worldwide in the mid-90s. The remixes were released in late 1996, and it made the UK Top 40 upon its re-release.
