Peaked at #11 for 2 weeks on R&R's pop chart in June 1987.
The backing music makes this so infectious, and it's the reason that I like this more than "The Way it Is" (though that's also a good song).[/font]

didn't Sara Evans cover this? Yes and I love her version. The original's okay too, but her cover is my favorite.

I don't think there's a song Bruce Hornsby has done I didn't like.

The original 1986 version flopped during the month of August, then they remixed & re-released it I believe due to his success with his two top ten singles. I was going to DL this the other day and make a topic about it just as well. Great topic!
Orginal Hot 100 peak #72 (and the Top 40 book called this a 1986 "hit"?! I don't think so!)

It's tough to pick my favorite song by Bruce, I've liked pretty much everything I've heard by him. Well, that's limited to about a dozen songs lol, but still. Anyway, this is a good one.

"The Way It Is" and "Mandolin Rain" were still getting lots of airplay, especially the former, so that could have hurt this song's performance. I liked it though. I wish it had at least hit the Top Ten, but oh well.

You Tube doesn't even have the video.

Great song. Always thought this was the superior song from this album.
He had some great singles, including the little heard Walk in the Sun

One of his best, if not the best. Syracuse's Y94 always edits out the great piano intro.
