Barbie Girl was a big hit by Aqua. MTV & VH1 played it. MTV even play Lollipop(Candyman) and Turn Back Time. What do you guys think about Aqua?
Billboard Hot 100 chart no.7 Hot 100 singles sales no.5 UK 1 Germany 1 Australia 1 Canada 1 Sweden 1 France 1 Italy 1 Netherlands 1
and others.
Album Aquarium went to number 7 on Billboard 200 chart. Had international hits like Doctor Jones, Turn Back Time, Lollipop (Candyman), My On My, Roses Are Red.

This song is just unforgettable; it's just THAT good! I still have the Christmas Edition of "Aquarium" in my CD collection.

Jimmy hit the nail right on the head. It's is a fun song, even though I thought it was pretty corny. I sure didn't like their follow-up "Lollipop" (neither did much of the public, as it stalled out in the forties on the R&R CHR/Pop Top 50 chart).

Hated it. It was so overplayed at it's time. Couldn't handle more than one listen to this.

Mattel tried to sue them for giving their doll a so-called bad name. But I don't think they won.

Wow. I never replied. I liked it at the time. It's not anything mindblowing though... just a cheesy novelty song.

The "Ken" part at the beginning sounds like Cheech ("You wanna go for a ride?" ).

I remember the radio always used to say "Stop calling! Barbie Girl is coming up after 11 more songs..." and they would countdown :o

I remember reading an article a year or two ago on how the woman who created Babie died. :'(
One of my favorite episodes of "The Simpsons" is the episode about Malibu Stacy and Lisa's upset at how sexist the doll is. :)

23 Lollipop(Candyman) Billboard Hot 100 I never even knew this had a US release. So this single was released to stores, while "Turn Back Time" was releasd to radio?

I never even knew this had a US release. So this single was released to stores, while "Turn Back Time" was releasd to radio? Only Barbie Girl and Lollipop(Candyman) got a cd single in the US. There was no Turn Back Time cd single for the US. Barbie Girl, then Lollipop(Candyman), then Turn Back Time were sent to US radio.
