Totally forgot about this one, but it's pretty good. I liked it at the time. What summer was this out again?

I just DLed this from the link provided here, so thanks! I must not have heard this since 1997, but it's all coming back to me now.I think I even bought this on single. This reminds me that at one time Rap hits were actually good.

Yeah, before they became overcommercialized. Like hits of a certain rapper who's stage name has monetary value... Yep, exactly who I was thinking of too. If radio's standards were the same as they used to be, the current big rap hits right now would be: "Hope" by Twista, "Just A Moment" by Nas, and "Let's Get Blown" and still "Signs" by Snoop. MUCH better than the pure shit we have instead.

I loved it!! That Isley Brothers "Coolin' Me Out" sample was tight.

There are a lot of reasons why this song is all but forgotten: it's bland, colorless, Warren G sounded flat-out bored and its appropriation of The Isley Brothers' "Coolin' Me Out" sounded unimaginative, even in the light of having been released at the supreme height of the king of generic sampling himself, Mr. Sean "Puffy" Combs. There's a lot to be said about the stagnant state of current mainstream hip-hop. But I think this era was even worse in many aspects.

I must not have heard this since 1997, but it's all coming back to me now. Right with ya there. "Regulate" is one of my favorite rap songs of the mid-90s, but this doesn't come close to touching that. It's just okay.
