What a brilliant song. This was a single from Mezzanine, their album which came out in the peak of "chill" hype, but still didn't do a whole lot stateside. It's five and a half minutes, but a real cool song with that length.
I just borrowed the album from my local public library, and it is brilliant.

I'm surprised there's no thread for this song. Everyone knows it by now - if not upon it's initial release, anyone in pursuit of excellence has discovered it retroactively. And of course, there's always the fact that it is House's theme song.
Truly one of best songs of the past 20 years. It's undeniable.
I'll never grow tired of it.

I had to miss their NYC shows because of "obligations".
I don't want to talk about it.
"False Flags" is one of my favorite tracks of 2006, though.
It's good to get lost to in foggy wooded desolate areas with your friends (not that I would know from experience or anything).

At 13, the video grossed me out. I had some issues (still not fully resolved) about stuff like that. *shrugs*

Maybe it was MTV2... but still, with the number of times "Jackass" runs on that channel, it's shocking to see how far they've fallen in 8 years. Mezzanine sold like 900k in the USA, & I remember seeing them on MTV & The Box. They definitely were a more visible commercial presence in 1998.

Actually, I started a topic on this song in about '04 or so. It just got so buried that the search can't find it.
Is it just me, or does Elizabeth Fraser just seem to have a real peaceful, beautiful tone to her voice? Oh, and that's an amazing video, too. I didn't actually see it until '05.

My dad got this CD through one of those mail order CD clubs back in 1998. We weren't familiar with Massive Attack at all (Americans lol) and I think we were both expecting the music to be very different given the artist name. We listened to it and it honestly made no impression on us whatsoever...other than it wasn't what we thought it would be. If anything made an impression on me, it was the album cover. It's probably the only reason I remember this story lol.
About a year ago, I started watching House on Prime. My mother and I had watched the show a lot during the first few seasons when they originally aired but back then I had no clue that the theme was an actual song...thought it was just generic TV theme music. Last year during my rewatch I couldn't believe that this song was on that album that my dad and I had listened to all those years ago lol.
I have since listened to that album again and have a newfound respect for Massive Attack. This song is awesome!
