A song that becomes very depressing at the end.
I remember an episode of "Family Ties" when Steven Keeton was thinking back when his older brother used to play the song and pin him down so he could show all his friends how Steven would cry when the part about Shep dying came on. At the end of the episode, Steven put on the record and was visibly trying to choke back tears as he listened. Halfway through the song, Alex wandered into the room and when Elvis sang the line "I aimed it at Shep's faithful head...", Alex burst out crying, "THEY SHOT HIM!!!" That episode never failed to make me laugh.
