"I believe that life is as good as you learn how to live it and love is as good as you learn how to give it."
-Kathie Lee in the "Heart of a Woman" thank yous
After rereading that bit a hundred times, I still didn't know what she meant... until today. When I stepped into FYE, I noticed all their $2.99 USED CDs were discounted to $0.99; it was like fate called me today because sitting behind Justin Guarini's self-titled album was Kathie Lee's "Born For You."
I knew I had to own it without hearing a single note. Ever since purchasing her pop album "Heart of a Woman" on a whim, I have rapidly became a huge Kathie Lee fan.
Tender. Romantic. Sexy. "Born For You" is an amazing album, filled with jazzy and soulful tunes. It makes you want to walk beneath a milky, silky sunset on the beach. Kathie Lee's vocals are personal, touching, and so beautiful, they caress your ear drums.
This is definitely not an album for all the young 'uns here; instead "Born For You" is a mature, heartfelt album that is about everlasting love. Kathie Lee is consistent, because almost all the songs flow onto one another without you knowing. The 1 hour 7 minutes album is so relaxing and monotonous; after it was done, I thought the CD was still on its first few songs! That's a GOOD CD if it doesn't let you know how many songs are on there; no sudden switches or anything like that. "Born For You" rivals Target's best-seller World Flutes and makes you want to laid down and rest.
Absolutely gorgeous and the booklet has Kathie Lee pics through the years. I got a little teary eyed because of how much the songs sounded like my life.. I could really relate to everything she was singing.
Amazon.com reviews are more than kind for this amazing Kathie Lee effort. Check it out. If I had a choice, I would shell out $17.98 for it.
Highlights: "Born For You," "Moondance," everything else because you can't distinguish one song from another.

Born for You
Kathie Lee describes the album in the following way:
"Thousands of albums have been dedicated to the concept of first love, last love, or lost love. This album is dedicated to the concept of lasting love. It's easy to fall in love. It's hard to stay in love.
I believe that everyone's life, if told truthfully, would make a fascinating motion picture. In writing and singing truthfully about my own life experiences, I believe I will capture the essence of everyone's life because we all experience the same emotions - only the details are different.
Born for You is basically a soundtrack to a life. The material includes classics, Broadway, folk, pop, cabaret, and new highly personal songs. It is over an hour of non-stop symphonic music; each song linked by a common melodic theme found in the title song, Born for You.
This album is for anyone who's ever fallen in love and cared enough to work hard at staying in love."
