UU-BRU Radio Playlist [red]For Week Ending June 3, 1999[/red] I think you mean 1989. Anyway, I don't like either song.

Have never been a big Bon Jovi fan (I know, I know...throw me out of NJ..lol). I have charted them sporadically but this wasn't one of them...lol.
I think I charted The Rembrandts but the song was so overplayed that I tired of it incredibly quick. If it made it on at all, it wasn't very high or for very long.

Yeah, I remember how fast it rose to the top. That means it was WAY overplayed its first few weeks out, as well as the rest of the time it was in the Top Ten. It was clearly the summer song of 1995!

i like both, but i personally prefer The Rembrandts version They are two totally different songs. Bon Jovi's is a power ballad. The Rembrandts was a fun pop song. But I think I prefer the Bon Jovi version

I loved "I'll Be There For You" when Friends came out. But on the show the song seems to be in much better quality than the actual song.

I like Bon Jovi's song. It reminds me of the 11th grade. There was a lot of great music in the spring/summer of 1989.

Bon Jovi's was one of my favorite songs in the spring of '89, when I first flirted with pop music. I felt kinda embarrassed about liking it at the time because my older brother told me how lame they were, when he identified it for me.
The Rembrandts song was great in the summer of '95, but I really have no desire to hear it for a really long time. I didn't realize it was happening over the years, but apparently at some point, burnout set in.

I didn't realize it was happening over the years, but apparently at some point, burnout set in. I agree completely. One of my favorite songs back in 1995 (and this is before I even started watching ''Friends''), I don't like it anywhere as much now. Though I definitely don't hate it, hearing it so many times as the theme song has really put me off the song. However, I'm guessing I'll love it ten years from now...that is, provided I don't watch reruns. The Bon Jovi song is a classic. Though it's not my favorite song by him (''Livin' On A Prayer'' would get that vote) or even my favorite ballad (''Bed Of Roses''), it's still an awesome single.

I love them both but I was more sick of The Rembrandts' "I'll Be There For You" because of its massive overplay especially being the theme to Friends.

FRIENDS will not soon be forgotten! I still enjoy hearing the song every time I watch a rerun. I'll admit, I wasn't listening to Pop/Hot AC in 1995, but if I were, I'm sure I would've gotten sick of it too.
As for the Bon Jovi song, I like Ashton Kutcher doing a rendition of it in the movie "A Lot Like Love". Even when I listen to this song, my mind associates the title with the Rembrandts song and FRIENDS.

I'm a complete sucker for Hair Metal ballads, and this one is no exception. Cheese of the best variety.
