From 2001. This song features a man narrating a story of a woman who tries to seduces him. Not sure if it ever hit the top 40 on Billboard or R&R, but it doesn't have to be a top 40 to be a good song.

Might have done something on the Alt. charts. It definitely didn't hit Pop.
I also liked the "narration" remix. The original was very bland. The narration was actually taken from a book, though I can't remember which.

It was taken from "House Of Leaves," the novel written by Poe's brother. It's also part of the inspiration for the album, "Haunted."
I love Poe, and "Haunted" is one of the best albums I've ever heard. It's a pitty she's not as well-known as she should be.
This is an OK song, but there are much better tracks on the rest of the record.

It hit #13, I think, on Alternative. I remember this being on MTV2 quite a bit. All I can remember was there was a car, and she had some kind of mud on her skin, but that's about it. I can't even remember how the song goes now.

JAM!!! I loved this and "Haunted." I even got her album, but it and the album art freaked me out too much to enjoy the music. I believe she was dropped in January 2002, at the same time Atlantic dropped Angela Via, among others. :'(

Aw, I used to like this song a lot. It was featured on the soundtrack of the MTV soap opera Spyder Games.

As far as I know, her brother wrote that book. Supposedly the album is like the companion to the book. But I like both versions of the song. I actually prefer the way that the bridge is done on the original version.
