We really need to sticky one thread of this kind so we wouldn't have to keep creating multiple "what's this song" threads...
Anyway, I have a question about a song that I remember hearing on the radio from time to time about 25 years ago. I have no idea who sings it, but I do know that two lines in the chorus went something like "I don't want to argue/There's nothing to say" and I do remember the last line in the chorus was "Be on your way". Other than that, I don't remember the lyrics. Does this song ring a bell?

That sounds logical, since the song charted in September, 1979 and now that I think about it, I remember the words "Starry Eyes" in the chorus, which went something like:
I don't wanna argue There's nothing to say Get me out of your Starry Eyes and Be on your way!
That was actually the second half of the chorus. The first line was also "I don't wanna argue" but I have no idea what they said in the second line, something like "I ain't gotta budge", but I'm pretty sure that's not what they said.
Anyway, thanks for the help.

Hmmm... just looked it up, and Jude Cole was in that group. I think he joined after "Starry Eyes" was recorded though.

I heard the song yesterday on Joe FM. The voice was a male, and I think it might be Eddie Money (it sounded a lot like him).
Chorus: "Shakin' Snappin' her fingers She'll go movin' up and down and round and round That girl was shakin' "
What's this song?

"Shakin'" by Eddie Money Thanks!
But...now I have a new one. This is actually a song I don't think I've heard before.
Lyrics (might be the chorus): "Since you've been gone I've been in a trance This heart needs a second chance Don't say it's over I just can't say goodbye"
What's this song?

"Second Chance" by 38 Special, actually. Top Ten hit in 1989. I'm guessing Dennis Brown recorded a cover version of it. :)

When I first heard 38 Special's "Second Chance", I thought it was the new song by Sting. The voice of the new lead singer had the same tone quality and it sounded like something that Sting would do. This song peaked at number six in the spring of 1989 and its fifteen weeks on the chart helped to place it at number 40 for the year. Back then, it was very unusual for a song that didn't hit the Top Five to place in the year-end Top 40. Nowadays, there are songs that failed to hit the top TEN that snag such high positions on the year-ender.

Since the ID topic on Page 1 hasn't yet yielded an answer for its respective song, I'll bump up the one I did previously.
Heard this on Joe FM today. Chorus:
There ain't no good guy There ain't no bad guy There's only you and me And we just disagree
Male voice, sounds like Bruce Hornsby - except I checked the lyrics to all of his songs that charted at Pop and none fit. Although, the lyrics remind me of a country song that I remember hearing when I listened to country radio (unless that crossed over, I doubt this is from the same artist).

"We Just Disagree" by Dave Mason, from 1977 (Billy Dean did a country remake in 1994).

WOW!! The Records?? Mentioned in a PMB thread?? Toooooo cooooool!! I have this 45 in its original Virgin Records release in 1979. What a totally awwwwwwwsome song!!! I also have a CD of their greatest hits which includes "Hearts In Her Eyes" and the Bay City Rollers song "Rock N Roll Love Letter." Power pop was coool.
The Searchers around this time were signed to Sire Records and put out a magnificent power pop song called "It's Too Late." Unfortunately, it is a cult classic just under the Records hit. And I never realized Jude Cole was in the Records. thanx for that Aaron.

Just heard this on WTBT (new area dance station). Here's a lyric:
"How ever do you want me How ever do you need me..."
This seems to be the hook and is repeated many times throughout the song. Female singer, I'm guessing it's from the 90s.

Soul II Soul - "Back To Life". I think it's from 1990.
Edit: Ooh... peaked in December, 1989, but I was close.

Heard this on Joe FM. A few lyrics:
"Who's gonna drive you home tonight?" "Who's gonna tell you things...aren't so great?" "You can't go on, thinkin'...nothin's wrong"
The singer sounds like Lou Gramm, which tells me it's either him solo or Foreigner. Except I checked on the lyrics to Foreigner's hits that I haven't heard, and none match. I couldn't find the lyrics to Lou Gramm's "Just Between You and Me".

I can never remember that song is by the Cars. It's their only hit that lacks their signature sound.

Yeah, I don't think they had ever had a slow song like that. Plus, the lead vocals are from the late Benjamin Orr instead of Ric Ocasek, like usual.

I heard a song on WEFM this afternoon. Sounds relatively new and the chorus went like:
Must have been love Could have been fate whatever it was it came much too late.
Anyone know what this is?

Pat McGee Band "Must Have Been Love" mms://66.186.0.101/allaccess/patmmust.wmaIt was a recent Hot AC hit. It charted on Rick Dees' Hot AC chart. I started a topic on it.

Got another one.
It's a slow song by a female singer and it sounds a little like "Insatiable" by Darren Hayes.
The song might be called "If That's Love", because in every verse, she first of all gives a negative scenario of a relationship and sings "If that's love, then I want no part". Then, she gives a positive aspect and says "If that's love, then you've got my heart".
It sounds relatively new and I would say that the singer was Mariah Carey, but it doesn't have her trademark screeching anywhere in the song.
