I've loved the Beatles for as long as I can remember. My mother says they were my first favorite group and that I enjoyed watching them on the old Ed Sullivan Show as much as she did (I was about 4 at the time so I don't really remember). The oldest record album I bought new and still have is 'Meet The Beatles'.
Naming favorites is difficult because I'm almost certain to leave something out. If I had to pick one album as a favorite I suppose it'd be 'Rubber Soul', but I must say that there isn't even one album I don't at least like very, very much.
AbE: As a caveat to that last sentence, I would also mention that there are a couple albums I consider to be somewhat overrated: 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' and 'The Beatles' (the so-called "White Album"). I only say that because so many critics consider the one or the other to be the group's masterpiece and I don't agree.

I think you had to catch them for Flower Points when running up Booster Hill in the Super NES game Super Mario RPG. I was never really good at it, though. I guess hitting my head on so many treasure chests kinda threw off my equilibrium.

Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band' is one of the greatest albums ever made. From start to finish, it is complete. Every song makes sense in order of listening to it, every song tells a story, so good. Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys inspired John and Paul to write Sgt. Peppers. Pet Sounds is also a fantastic album

ok thats cool..so you have been a fan of them for like 40 years or something right? i started to like them a year ago Well, I suspect I'm just a li'l bit older than you. ;) I'm always glad to see that the old truly classic rock songs are still reaching new fans. If you enjoy the Beatles, you might also like to check out some of the early Rolling Stones, Janice Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Who or The Kinks. It was a wonderful period in rock and pop history.

Every song makes sense in order of listening to it, every song tells a story, so good. I have only minor quibbles with what you say. Yes, 'Sgt. Pepper' is one of the greatest albums, but IMO it's no better than 'Rubber Soul'. And I wouldn't call either a masterpiece; 'Meet The Beatles' was just as influential at its time and was entirely necessary to get us to the later, more complicated records. I think I remember the Beach Boys album you mention. I was never a huge fan of them, but I do seem to remember that there was one BB album that stood head and shoulders above the rest.

Zeppelin? Absolutely! Another huge favorite.
For a 17-year-old you've got great taste in music. I see that your only posts are in this thread. I hope you'll hang around here so we can have more discussions about these great bands and artists. Please feel free to jump into any of the current music forums that might interest you, too.

And now my serious reply: I love the Beatles! They're probably the only recording act that I recognize virtually their entire catalog, as opposed to just the hit singles. First real exposure to their music was in 1981 via the 16-minute Stars on 45 cover medley (which included many of their classic album tracks, not just the hits).
Hard to narrow down what my favorite songs would be, but they'd include "I Want To Hold Your Hand," "We Can Work It Out," "Help," "Hello Goodbye," "From Me To You," "Things We Said Today," "Twist & Shout," "Got To Get You Into My Life," "Drive My Car"... somebody stop me! :)

And around the time that song was #1 on Billboard (it peaked at 3 on R&R), one of the Beatles himself topped the R&R chart. George Harrison spent two weeks at #1 with "All Those Years Ago". That song peaked at #2 on Billboard, behind the Stars on 45 medley and "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes.

eeew what up with you're picture Actually, in a strange way, that woman is sort of sexy. Maybe it's because her face isn't ugly. I wouldn't mind curling up next to her on a cold winter night. She'd be sure to keep me nice and warm all over, if you know what I mean. She has something in common with a moped. Both would be fun to ride until your friends see you!

I remember when that song was used in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It was re-released as a single and they started playing it in the clubs. It was so much fun to dance to an old Beatles record. Someone mentioned Stars on 45, which of course wasn't actually the Beatles. I was a dj at that time, and about a year prior something called Bits and Pieces (if I remember correctly) was released to clubs. It was a Beatles medley produced from real Beatles recordings. In fact, it was almost the exact same medley used by Stars, only it went on a bit longer and included more songs. That 12-inch single was stolen from me some years later. I miss it very much.

I believe I have this very 12 inch. It's a white label with red block lettering that says something like "Bits and Pieces Medley." I also have the "I Will Survive" mix that had 2 turntables playing "survive" with the drum break from "At Midnight." My fave Beatles album is Abbey Road. Paul's medley on the 2nd half is truly 15 minutes of well invested music pleasure.

I think I owe you a couple mp3s from a year or so ago already that I didn't get around to. :) But I will try. I have all my vinyl at another apt. that is basically being used as a shelter for a 21 year old cat who I didn't bring with me when I moved here. I don't go there that frequently, (someone on the floor feeds and spends time with him 2x a day) and he seems to be so inexplicably healthy that the need to box stuff up and bring it here hasn't really been important, knowing that I couldn't leave him anywhere else. So, basically, to answer your question, Yes! I am paying a large sum for an apt. in NYC to house a very old cat and several thousand records!
