I have totally gotten way into this album track from the debut again. For the past couple of days, I can't stop listening! I have it playing right now, on repeat. Tonight I was on my way to the library to study for a big exam tomorrow when I decided I wanted to hear this song first lol, and that ended up to my listening 5 times in a row and getting a late start with the studying.
I also got my CD out and put this in the car, so even when I'm driving, I can listen.
What do you all think about this song?

It's great, from the beginning til the end. It starts slowly, and it becomes faster and faster... I love it, but maybe I got tired of it a years ago, when I used to listen to it 1000 times in a raw.

My favorite 3EB song period. I can't get enough of it either.

Hee hee, this CD is actually one of the four CDs I have in my car, so I'll have to put it in now that you've mentioned it.

Not my favorite from 3EB, but a great song nonetheless.

The three final tracks on their self-titled CD are by far the best on the album.
First you have "In The Background", by far one of the most heartaching songs Stephan has written yet. It starts out slow and haunting, like his blurred voice represents that faint memory in the back of his mind, then it just wails at the end with heartbreaking guitar riffs. Then, if you turn up the volume, you can hear that soft guitar melody in the background, like the memory is still haunting him. Pure genius!
Then, of course, "Motorcycle Drive By". The acoustics are just beautiful in the beginning, and this song is like an epic of sorts, perfect for a spring or summer-day drive in the country or out in the open. Then this song too hits a climatic point, then smoothes out again, just like the pavement of the road.
Finally, my absolute favorite from Third Eye Blind: "God Of Wine". I feel they're never going to write a better song than this, though they still write great songs ("Palm Reader", "Crystal Baller", "Wounded"). Lyrically it is a masterpiece. The music then only adds a deeper homage to the songs authenticity. I can play this on my guitar and is one song I never fail to cry too.
In fact, just let me put up my list of their Ten Best Songs in my opinion, which only one of them ever became a single.
#1: God Of Wine #2: Wounded #3: Motorcycle Drive By #4: The Background #5: Darkness #6: Narcolepsy #7: Palm Reader #8: The Red Summer Sun #9: Slow Motion #10: Jumper
Honorable Mentions:
#11: Crystal Baller #12: Self-Righteous #13: Wake For Young Souls
Three Worst Third Eye Blind Songs
London (the only flaw in my opinion from their debut album) An Ode To Maybe (just doesn't sound like their style) Can't Get away (I can't take some lyrics in this seriously, like the "tater-tot" thing)
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Can't Get away (I can't take some lyrics in this seriously, like the "tater-tot" thing) LOL. I love that song, it reminds me of the first album a little bit. But I definitely hear you on the tater-tot thing.... that would have been better left out of the song.

I'm surprised I didn't see this thread the first time around. I love this song...one of the many great tracks on an excellent CD.

Great song by TEB but it's hard to compare this to anything they've done because it's just so different and unlike them to do a song like this.
