I really liked this one and it only peaked at #33. It's like a mix of Staind and Nickelback.

I always thought I'd be the one to start this topic... lol.
I first heard this on Montgomery's WBAM all the way back in August of '01. At the time, I never thought it would go for adds nationally and wind up a top 40 pop hit.
I'm not really sure why I like this song so much, but it spent 4 weeks at #1 on my chart and ended up as my #2 song of 2002.
Their followup "Wall of Shame" was a major flop just about everywhere except 95.9 The Tiger in Auburn, where they played it in at least medium rotation for about 4 or 5 months. I thought it was decent-but-not-great at the time, but I like it more now. In October of 2002 I saw them at Bayfest and they were asking the audience to request their 'third single' "Could I've Been". I think they said something to the effect of their label had given up on them as far as that album. Lead singer Mark Wilkerson introduced his wife Melissa Joan Hart on stage before performing "Wall of Shame".
Course of Nature are currently finishing up on their second album, and stopped here a couple of weeks ago to try out some of the new songs before a live crowd.

...I don't understand what this song is about--is it about a vampire? somebody that gets sunburned easily? why is it so terrible to get caught in the sun? or do they mean literally, like an astronaut?

I bought the CD (don't really like it) during it's release. The song spent 4 plus weeks at number one on my chart in 2002 finishing the year at only number 5, (311's "Amber" ended up being number one for the year). I did not take notice of the band until I saw it (the video) on VH1, and believed that it was a sure fire smash hit, I have never been sooo wrong.

Excellent Song, I wonder has that song ever made it to Hot AC Charts, I always find this song Hot AC-friendly and suited for that format.

It was a pretty good song, but I can see why it didn't go far on pop. The song was not really "firey" and lacked energy. At times I listen to it now and I feel like the singer wasn't really into the song but singing it mundanely.
Alas...

Great song, I thought it was going to be bigger than it was though.
