This song sounded exactly like a Paula Abdul song, but it gave her a Top 10 pop hit in 1992. Good, but not as good as the songs it was a knock-off of.

This song sounded exactly like a Paula Abdul song... Probably because it was a duet with The Wild Pair (as was "Opposites Attract"). I like it, but not as much as "Love Me All Up". ETA: It was also written and produced by Oliver Leiber, the same guy who did "Opposites Attract" and "Forever Your Girl" for Paula.

At the time, I liked this song a lot, but now I can't get through it without laughing.
"Love Me All Up" has stood the test of time for me though.

I know Romeo And Juliet by Dire Straits and by Alex Costandinos, and I know Stacy Earl from "Love Me Up" and yet I have no recollection of this song. She was cute tho back in the day...

I went to a radio station for a project when I was in grade school and they let me root through the promos and take a few things. The single for this was something I picked up. I had never heard it on radio or anything. I thought it was a cute song. It's super cheesetastic though. Fun to listen to every once in awhile.
Peace, Ben

Yeah Oliver wrote Romeo & Juliet for Paula but she decided in the end to go with the Family Stand for material for what became Spellbound

It's funny how she's basically RCA's copycat answer to the cash cow that was Virgin's Spellbound by Paula Abdul... so blatant. Yet, at the time, I didn't think of it like that.
Anyway, the song didn't hold up as well as Love Me All Up (or at all), but it fondly reminds me of listening to American Top 40, because I didn't hear this on my local pop station otherwise. Nostalgia...

I do wonder what would have happened had Paula stuck with this sound on her 3rd album, at least for a couple singles, and released it right away in late 92 or early 93 instead of waiting until summer of 95.

YES this was obviously an attempt to create another Paula Abdul. I had totally forgot about this song but I heard it randomly last week on Sirius XM. IT'S CATCHY! Although Romeo and Juliet die in the end, so the song is kinda strange bc of that.

I prefer her other track "Love Me All Up" over this one. I later found out that the pop station in my market (B96 in Chicago) actually played this when it came out. Of course, I don't remember it at all.
