OMG this song is totally hott! urban music had some totally amazing productions and beats in the 80s, and this whole album actually, is great. No wonder it is such a sought out collector's item. Featuring the unfathomly, unconscionably, underated vocalist Curtis Hairston, this is one of a million SOS Band sounding songs, and let me tell you, at least with me, I jump musical trends when they start getting beaten down, but these 808 drum machine beat songs / jam/lewis clones all had their appeal to them.
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are listed as assistant engineers on this 1985 album.
your wish is my command... i'm your genie
I found a great copy of this album on ebay from Germany recently. Also includes the hits "On The Shelf," "Dreamer" and "Riccochet."

The only song I've heard/have by them is "On The Beat". A few years ago when I was still in radio, one of my dj friends wanted me to search for some of there stuff. Your description sounds so good, I might have to check this out...

I finally heard the song thanks to Napster in 2000! I am sooo glad that one person has mentioned a rather obsure song, well more than one. This cut is OK, however i may never stop playing their better cuts from that 1985 LP... Now "Dreamer" and this song were both UK Top 40 hits. "Dreamer" as being my personal favouite of all four hits from the LP was a huge UK Soul circuit hit and it was listed in Jet's Top 20 singles chart w/o it making the actually Billboard R&B charts. The song "On The Shelf" kinda bombed in 1986 though I believe that it's a pretty decent track and I still play it here and there. "(I'm A) Dreamer" will always remain as one my favourite old school R&B tracks, as a matter of fact I replayed the track in 1992 as it debuted at number one on my charts.

I like "Dreamer" and "Imagination" a lot, but "On The Beat" is my favorite by them.
