I thought I'd list this as Burt Bacharach since he's the composer and because although The Carpenters have the best known version, it was done by Dionne Warwick and Dusty Springfield before them. It's almost reached a point of total camp cheesiness nearly forty years after it was written, but it's a classic. The Carpenters have the definitive and best version, but there are so many other great versions.

This song is absolutely owned by Karen Carpenter. That said Dionne's version is very nice.

Classic indeed. Karen had such a great voice. It was rumored that Karen's boss Herb Alpert was supposed to record this too, but he had issues with saying the word "moondust."
