This was supposed to be the last single from "the heat." A video was shot but Toni felt that it was too raunchy and did not want it to be released. I am not sure if it ever went for adds, I dont think it was a radio single. i think they pulled it all together when Toni didnt want to release the video. i have seen a clip of the video, it was a remix version done for it. The clip of It can be seen on her DVD She was wearing her "Grammy Dress" and it showed her taking it off. But she felt it was too much for a video and went against it at the last minute.
I think this would have been a good urban hit for her and could have ended "the heat" on a high note, instead of on a low note with "spanish guitar."

I liked this song more than "Spanish Guitar". I think she made a mistake releasing that song. Really killed all her momentum

don't think it would've flown at radio, but a scandalous video coulda gotten the attention she needed...

don't think it would've flown at radio I agree. The Heat wasn't an awful album but it was a disaster in comparison to her first two albums. "He Wasn't Man Enough" was great. I really liked "Just Be A Man About It" too, although that one hasn't really stood the test of time for me. I thought the title track seemed like the most likely candidate for the third single but I don't think there was really a very strong choice.

This song was fire!! I loved the vocal technique she utilized, the sped-up sing-songsy style from the huskey-voiced Braxton was on point. The lyrics, racy and steamy, OMG I LOVED "Maybe." I've seen the video and it was racy, maybe (no pun intended) it would have set the album off again for her.

I absolutely love this song. I think it would have fared much better than "Spanish Guitar," which seemed like too much of a rehash of "Unbreak My Heart."
As for The Heat album, I know I'm in the minority, but I still think it's the best album she's released as of yet. The singles from her debut album are obviously classic, but the rest of the album just doesn't compare IMO. As for Secrets, it was a little too glossy and over-produced in places. The Heat is just flawless from beginning to end IMO. Just a great R&B/Soul record. More Than A Woman was completely underwhelming though.

For some reason i never bought "the heat" but i have the other 3. its strange cause I loved "just be a man about it" and "he wasnt man enough" i guess i never got around to buying it. I'll have to take a listen to the rest of the tracks on "the heat" and compare it to the other 3.

Damn, really, I only remember seven being released. "LSBYH," "ASLS," "Breathe Again," "SWD," "HMW," "YMTWTM," and "IBTY." That said, I hate "I Belong To You." Six great songs, the rest was unmemorable.
I just think The Heat was solid through and through. Granted, none of the songs may stand alone as well as her first singles, but the album as a whole works for me.

Toni & the label shouldn't have bailed on this. They should have just re-shot the video because the radio/video mix was FIRE. I think this might have went for adds before they pulled it as a single. This peaked at #74 on the R&B chart & #11 on the Hot Dance/Club Play chart. I think "The Heat" wouldn't have fizzled out so soon if they released the title track as the 3rd single instead of "Spanish Guitar".

I agree w/pretty much everyone is saying. It was a great song that should've been push properly. "THE HEAT" wasn't a horrible album, but comparing it to her previous eras, it does fall short. The dance mix to this song is AMAZING!

The club mixes were killer. It peaked at #11 on the club chart. Definitely. I listen to the Dynamix and HQ2 mixes constantly on my iPod. Both super sexy. Hex was a master with Toni, seriously. The video was gorgeous, from the short clip of it that you can see on her DVD. It seems like she kind of overreacted to blocking it from being released, but it is what it is I guess.

Love the remixes! Very good. I think the video was a bit racy, but considering the types of clothes she was wearing at that time, it doesn't seem that bad. It looked tasteful and suggestive, not vulgar and trashy. I do hope we get to see the full thing someday

She may as well have released the video, considering it's a lot more tasteful and erotic than a lot of the photoshoots she was doing at the time. What a stupid move for Toni.

I remember thinking it was so weird that the video was considered "too racy". It seemed like a publicity stunt, because I didn't really see anything that racy about it.
