it actually sounds NOTHING like "milkshake"
it's not dumb-- it's weird/eccentric but not dumb.

Certainly not a dumb record. Actualy a surprisingly inteligent one. Yes, shout-a-long chorus with novelty value, but listen to the lyrics in the verses. Excellent stuff.
That whole album was AMAZING. 'Tasty' is good, but Kaleidoscope is AMAZING....

At the time, I disliked it because the chorus part was too jarring for me.. Now, it's grown on me and I like the verses a lot.

I'll say the same thing I said in the other topic about this song, wherever that may be right now:
This song was funny.

Kelis is so overrated by some fans. I guess since sh elooks weird and sings badly, she is considered talented. Funny the critics dont really favor her...
Anyway, Kelis is only good for songs with catch phrases. in them. i liked this song. "Milkshake" was much better and so was "get along with u."

What a completely ignorant statemant. Pardon me for not praising Kelis, her bad hair, and scratchy voice.

Pardon me for not praising Kelis, her bad hair, and scratchy voice. How many of her songs have you actually heard though? have you heard Mafia, or Get Along With You, or Suspended?

How many of her songs have you actually heard though? have you heard Mafia, or Get Along With You, or Suspended? I know all about Kelis. I got a promotional copy of her first album. I downloaded the majority of the tracks from her 2nd album and I got "tasty" on bootleg. I have heard what she has to offer. I'm not sayin she is totaly garbage, but i feel she is totally overrated. I liked alot of the tracks on "tasty" like "glow" "protect my heart" which was on the 2nd album if im not mistaken, "trick me" "millionare" and a few others. She is cool but i feel she is overrated. Most of her success is in the UK correct? Well in the U.S I dont think anyone considers her anything special.

'Tasty' is good, but Kaleidoscope is AMAZING.... I have to agree. I bought a used copy of Kaleidoscope a while ago and it's MUCH better than Tasty, not saying Tasty is bad or anything.

I would've bought Tasty, but my friends said I was gay for even contemplating buying it. I even tried to make it cool by saying Nas was on a track! They didn't buy it though :( and I didn't buy the album either :(

Kelis has two things going for her: her very unique sense of style and, most importantly, two GENIUSES called The Neptunes, who almost single-handedly seem to give her some of their best beats. As to why she's more successful here in Europe than the US, it's one of those things that really puzzles me. ??? And contrary to what BlueNote is saying, she's very considered among the critics in the US too.
