I LOVED this song from The Heat. Such a JAM! The beat is crazy and I always wished this was the third single instead of "Spanish Guitar."
It's produced by Babyface and Jazzy Phe, though it doesn't sound like anything Babyface has done before or since.

It's okay. I'm really not a big fan of The Heat. I liked the first two singles, but "Just Be A Man About It" didn't even hold up that well for me. Lisa's rap in this song has been recycled again and again.

Hot recycled 3 times rap! Wait, was the rap recycled on this song, or it has been recycled from this song? I've never even heard it on anything else.

Left eyes rap could have been left out. she kinda messed the song up.
Toni sounds like she isjust havin a ball with this song. I love her adlibs! She sounds so FIESTY and SEXY! I love it when Toni goes "WOOOOOOOO!" and "YEEEAAA!" This definately should have been the 3rd single. She could have had another crossover smash from that album.

I love it. The Heat is still a great album, and I think it's better than any R&B album released since to be honest.
Anyway, "Gimme Some" is catchy as hell, the beat is awesome, and Left Eye's rap is great.

Liked it but preferred the song "The Heat"--now that one's hot tamale!

Wait, was the rap recycled on this song, or it has been recycled from this song? I've never even heard it on anything else. I think it was recycled from the song. It's also on "I Need That" (an exclusive online track from MP3.com) and "Whoop De Woo" from Now & Forever: The Hits

I love this song! It's one of my favorites from The Heat. I also liked Left Eye's rap, and I usually despise rap verses tacked onto R&B songs lol.

I love it. The Heat is still a great album, and I think it's better than any R&B album released since to be honest. Your man disappointed you with the masterpiece that is 8701? And that other album he did? I like this track. Could do without the rap though, or a verse that fits it better.

And that other album he did? This post is 10+ years old and I never said anything about "my man." I was talking about my girl as The Heat was one of my favorite albums of all time in the years immediately following its release. That had nothing to do with my thoughts on anyone else, right?

It's alright. I was disappointed with "The Heat," overall.

Another summer jam. Probably should been a single. I do agree with previous posters though, the rap seems kinda off. Like she didn't line up with the beat right.

It's not one of my go to tracks, but I like it. It's a good song.
