I took Beck's Odelay out from the library and have been listening to it all week. This is the first time I've heard his work. Boy, not at all what I was expecting. I think the rap-style songs really surprise me the most. Don't know what I was expecting, but it doesn't sound like what I thought Beck would sound like. I read a review of this album that hints at little hidden things in several songs but it isn't really specific. Do you have any insights into this album? Is this album representative of Beck's work? Favorite song? Thanks!

I made a topic on this long ago. pulsemusic.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=nostalgia&action=display&thread=1066358306I think my favorite tracks are "The New Pollution", "Novocaine", "Where It's At", and "Minus". I love it, by the way. It has its own identity and is full of character. BTW, all of Beck's albums are a bit different from one another. Mutations is kind of a folk-influenced album, and Sea Change is its more bummed out sequel. Mellow Gold, his breakthrough album, is somewhat in the vein of this album. Midnite Vultures is what was meant to be a "party album". It's more dancy, funky, and soul-influenced. I never heard Stereopathetic Soul Manure or One Foot in the Grave, so I can't say about those.

Hey Halo, I checked out your thread. You know, I never really looked at the album cover, just popped it in my car CD player. Now I see the dog. :)
