How many of you remember this 1987 hit that was sandwiched between their hits 'That Ain't Love" and "In My Dreams?" These two songs hit the top 20, but "Variety Tonight" only hit number 60 (Billboard), but was my favorite REO song of all time. The guitar music was well done.

About this time back in 1987, "That Ain't Love" had just about run its course and B96 played this song on one of those "Smash It Or Trash It" type features many radio stations (you know, when they play a new hit and you call in to say how you like it). I forget what the results were, but I think most people who called in did not like it very well. I thought it was pretty good, but nowhere near as good as "In My Dreams".
