By far my favorite Staind single. I remember first seeing this video back in the fall of 99 during MTV's "Return Of Rock". So much passion and anger in Aaron Lewis's voice. It amazed me and has made me a die hard fan of Aaron's writing and vocal ability. Seeing him perform live was definitely a highlight.

This is also my favorite Staind single. Every single thing about this is done right. I wish their albums were all like Dysfunction, and that they didn't make songs as bland as "So Far Away". I think that this has better songwriting from them, and that this song is a good representation of that era. Haven't heard anything from Tormented, although I'm interested, but JG is top-notch. However, it was "Mudshovel" that I first heard and that's my second fav. I liked "Home" better than its sequels ("It's Been Awhile" and "Fade"), which means "For you" was the next real song, and that was good 'till the millionth listen, where it became unlistenable. "Epiphany" was good, although "Open Your Eyes" was the real standout from the BTC album.
But their last album had nothing to get into, and that's why I disliked it. Hopefully Cold don't change, they haven't turned pop even tho rock broke them just one album ago.

"Just Go" came out in the spring of '99 as the first single from Dysfunction. But it wasn't until I saw/heard "Mudshovel" for the first time that I took an active interest in what they were about. 'Cause I just couldn't tell if they'd be a worthy band based on "Just Go" alone.
I agree with halo20 in wishing all their albums were like Dysfunction. "So Far Away" was such a sellout song. "For You" was good, but it seemed like it was written/seen as a new-metal anthem at a time when new-metal was on its way out, so its massive success was a little annoying/inappropriate. I agree that "Open Your Eyes" was the real standout on BTC. "It's Been Awhile" was overrated and the rampant profanity just didn't fit (almost like the way it's used in Eamon's song).
However, I love "Fade" because of the foreboding washes of guitar in the intro and everywhere else they recur, not to mention the winding guitar of the pre-chorus. The drum pattern is unique and perfect, too. If they recycle the chorus guitar pattern from "Home," there's so much else in the song that appeals to me that it's totally a non-issue with me.
I agree 100% with your last paragraph.
