This is relatively easy.
We are still mad at Poison for stealing our act. Poison went on to be huge while we had to settle for a top 20 hit in 1989. It was our only hit, but we maintained a cult following for a while. We still think we are way better than Poison.
Who are we?

I am not totally 100 % sure, however it was in 1989 when "Seventeen" peaked at number 26, and "Headed For A Heartbreak" just barely peaked into the top 20 (#19). In South Dakota both of them songs were hugely popular, am I right? Winger?

It can't possibly be Winger because in 1991 they had a medium sized hit with "Miles Away".

I have to agree with you there. Yeah they certainly had to settle for a top 20 hit, and really it was their only huge hit. I just bought their CD about a couple months ago. They did however have another top 40 minour hit "The Glamour Boys".

Wow, the one I thought was easy no one has gotten yet, and the others I thought were tough. Who knew?
Think LA, glam rock scene, bands that really never quite made it.

Was it Kix (Don't Close Your Eyes)? Ding ding ding!! That's it. Kix was using the green color on their stage show and Poison came along and that was the end of that for Kix. Kix languished in the local scene for years before they burst through briefly in 1989. They hate Poison I'm sure mostly out of jealousy.

I did not see any of this in the book of One Hit Wonders, I mean their alleged beef with Poison. Wow that's some interesting stuff. Thanks.
