I bought this today along with 3 others. The clips sounded pretty nice. A lot of bombastic sound (which I love) and a lot less vanilla (which is why I didn't really like the first album, other than the singles). I am willing to take a chance on Leona because her blueprint (i.e. Mariah) didn't dirty things up til, what, album #4? Leona is only on #2. Give her time.

I think it was a Itunes pre-order only track. Like Fly Here Now was for those in the UK.

@ this album not being recognized by ITUNES when I tried to import it. I can see not having the artwork uploaded but not even the album title came up. I had to type that all in myself! I don't think the US cares about her anymore, which is a shame but I bought the CD and I bet I will love it. Gonna play it now.

Bleeding Love and Better In Time were HUGE here. Bleeding Love was #1 I believe and Better In Time was at least top 10. Give this horse a carrot. Can't Breathe SLAYS ME. Show 'em how it's done, Leona. She makes it sounds effortless. Reminds me of how someone else used to be but I seriously, I never liked Leona as much as I do right now.

I guess you must've missed the fact that Spirit sold close to 1.6 million copies in the US and both Bleeding Love and Better in Time were big radio hits. Bleeding Love selling 3.5 million copies and BIT 1.5 million.

She was the best selling new artist in 2008 in the US.

^ yes, her singles were successful, but they did not care for LEONA LEWIS. It's different. It's not like people in the US were "omg we need a new album from her!", which is too bad. Echo is pretty good.

Yah. I forgot she did even that well. The sticker on Echo does say she was the best selling new artist in 2008. Hell, she sold better than established artists that year. This CD is 10x better. WOW. It DESERVES to sell FAR more than Spirit.

I didn't realize that Leona was lip syncing until that slip in the middle of the song where Leona's voice was still going and Leona wasn't singing.

The whole thing was lip synced. Leona has a throat infection and already canceled an appearance yesterday on The Today Show.

That was my bad. I thought she was for some reason. Surprised her management didn't work that one out.

Listen, music taste is subjective. I know what I like and I'ld like to think that i have a good ear for music. Alot of the songs on her cds have an '80s feel to it. I agree the goal is to make timeless music but the music should also be somewhat relevant to the times at some point.

To some degree the artist should try to stay true to their self, however, labels are in this game to turn a profit and to that end, the artist also have to be aware that they need to make an album that will sell or risk being dropped or not selling.

Leona has a beautiful voice. I think that they should have tried to take more risks with her. singing poppy tunes is fine but throw in a song or two with some beats, try a few urban tunes. Overall, my main issue is her voice just doesn't touch me and that is not her fault. It's my taste.

Taste is always subjective. An opinion is an opinion, regardless of what you base it on. You're entitled to your opinion, everybody is. But I see you replying here and there, so I figured I'd do one back to you.

The way I read you you're promoted into the Pop Rap industry, with Urban = Hip Hop Pop = Hip Pop being the default mix of music the industry sold throughout the 00's. You like or are okay with that what you hear for different reasons. Which is fine, 80% of the people here are, but it's going out of fashion as we reach a new decade. Currently Pop Rock, Dance Pop and AC Pop are all on the verge of a comeback. Putting it like that Leona isn't dated after all. She's as in matter a fact very relevant in current times. Think about Lady GaGa reinventing Dance Pop etc. It's other artists who are behind now.

These may very well be some styles existing since the 50’s/60’s/70’s/80’s whatever, but guess what? So are R&B and Hip Hop. These genres were also commercial in the 1980’s yes. And if you say Leona sounds like it it’s a big compliment to me, some of the highest standards music will ever see IMO. Back when music did the biggest numbers for art in sound. But by all means I think we should get rid of dates and numbers and try to make the best music we possibly can again. Everybody happy.

Because the Hip Pop audience is only a minority group. It lacks quality for most people as I described in my previous post, and paired with no commercial alternative it’s not rocket science as to why sales have been suffering. This is why the industry is in need of change.

So I’d say most people don’t hold their breath for an artist like Leona to dive into past decade whereabouts: taking on the Hip Pop genre. The genre’s widely not being considered of enough quality, let alone what kind of limitation it would bring a Powerhouse singer like Leona. It's gonna limit her artistic abilities like it does with Mariah Carey. Gone would be the Powerhouse, the instruments playing a tune. Replaced with repetitive samples, soft beats, minimal vocals and random rapping ghetto slang. Definition waste of talent to me.

Whether you like Leona’s voice or not is an entirely different matter, that’s to each their own. Some people do, some people don’t. IMO.

Can't Breathe is MAGICAL, it's made my life better, it joins Better In Time as my favorite Leona song(s) ever.
