Apparently the first new Tears For Fears song in 8 years (and first featuring Curt Smith in 15 years) has been played by at least one radio station. The song is called 'Closest Thing To Heaven', and it's immediately reminiscent of the beatlesque "Seeds Of Love" style that gave them their last worldwide smash. I think their modern rock future is pretty much nonexistent, despite being one of the godfathers of the genre, but this one sounds perfect for Triple A. Has anyone else been lucky enough to hear this?
The timing couldn't be more perfect either, given all the drama going on in the UK this week over Gary Jules' cover of 'Mad World' and the Christmas chart race.

What kind of drama is it that is going on over Mad World?

SyrupBoy posted this link in another thread. Right, I guess I thought the "drama" was something more than a song being #1.

So the song is just now becoming big? It says that "Donnie Darko" was released in 2001. Are they just now releasing it? I also don't see the controversy in this.
Thanks, Ben

No controversy in releasing the song...I was alluding to the frontman for The Darkness who tried to start something in the press by asserting that 'Mad World' was an awful christmas song. I think it backfired on him. I'm not sure why Jules just now decided to release the single in the UK (two years after the fact), but it's given TFF a hell of a lot of free publicity.

I hope you don't mind me changing the title, but now that audio has made it's way out there, I don't want people to not be able to find this topic.
This one is very good. The verses are a little bland but the chorus is on point.

I moved this to AC because R&R is indicating that AC is the only format to which this will be sent.

I love it. All this time and they're still putting out good music.

It's really immediate, I'll give them that. It reminds you of 'Sowing The Seeds' right away without repeating it, which is never a bad thing. A perfect song to hear on the radio.
I've heard a couple other tracks from the album, and the song I think might be the next single is even better.
