Don't think this song is getting many requests - basically just record label promotion - it's a really formulamatic song, which I think will barely hit the Top 10/Pop and then have a quick decline

^yeah its a close one. Did you see the 2 above her?? lol She is gonna go up 3 spots when the recurrents get taken out in the final update. However, if she gains 5 more spins in the afternoon update she will move up 5 places. So she could easily be #35 in the final update.

Please stop repeating unless you want some stupid flame wars to start. The physical single is release in UK today! It's currently at No. 17 on downloads alone on the UK chart. :)

i love this song...i dont see how it is formulaic....avril's power and interpretation really carry this song! I like this song too but it is formulaic like most mainstream songs are. Thats not always a bad thing. Many people in here have agreed saying its a typical Avril Lavigne ballad. That makes it formulaic. Anyways, this will definately going higher than just barely Top 10.

^not really, I cannot agree at all. It is written as deep as any pop ballad is written today. Frankly, I dont think she could write anything any deeper and have it released. Her writing isnt necessarily her strong point, ive said that and will say it again. Its her ability to talk about things in terms that people fully understand without ever diving too deep. There's a difference between being a good artist which she is and a good writer. This is an average ballad performed by an above average artist.

I dunno the lyrics is beatiful and deep.... but when i hear Avril singing it I can't feel truth Its just like she recorded it just cause she have to do a ballad
But when i hear the accoustic version ...it looks more sincere to me and that was like she sang Im with You or Slipped Away... There was feeling in that....
But I believe the song will got Top 10 have potential...

When I first heard WYG I didn't like it that much, and I thought that she should have saved this for Eragon and promote KHO as THE ballad of TBDT. After listening to it a some more times, I like it more and think this is a good ballad, but still not as spectacular as SA, IWY or KHO. The video is good, the lyrics are good, too (not great), but I think there is 'something' lacking on the song, that's it. And regarding the video... the only thing that seems out of place is when she sings the chorus, sort of happy, smiling, with her hands up, spinning around in a garden... Isn't she feeling bad/sad because she is missing her loved one??? ???

No, its not. Its a generic formula. Its seen in almost every balad if you open your eyes. If you think anything is original anymore, you are wrong. This is a marketing strategy to use these singles. There is a science behind picking songs like this. There is a reason she says "I miss you" when she does and there is a reasonthe song is called "When You're Gone" there is a reason there is an allusion to war. Its all an appeal to ethos and that will make anything a success if the production is on with that. The piano adds a nice touch to.

I agree that this song is formulatic, and that is why it's chosen as a single. It's perfect for radio. It's a typical Avril ballad - killer pre-chorus, infectious chorus & a soaring chorus. I can't imagine 'Innocence' doing well as a single despite being the better ballad. It's just different from any other songs done by Av. :)
