The optionals and extras were mostly songs that bubbled under the Top 30 year-end:

The last optional was "Waiting On The World To Change" which was last year's #1.
Other fun facts:

Most of the intro stories were mentioned previously on the weekly countdown. Other tidbits:
"No Air" is only song in countdown that never reached the weekly top-10.
Colbie Caillat is the top female & top newcomer of the year.
Michael Bublé is the top solo male & top foreign act for the year.
"Before He Cheats" is the most downloaded Country single (2.4mil) of all-time.
"No One" hit #1 on the POP, Urban, and Urban AC Charts.
"Teardrops on My Guitar" was the biggest Country crossover hit for 2008.
