A terrible cover doesn't mean anything, look at "Breakaway." :)

I am in the definite minority but I loved the Breakaway Cover - it was my favorite actually. I would go Breakaway, All I Ever Wanted, Thankful, My December as far as that goes. MD was beautiful but I like seeing Kelly's face.
is anyone else no longer able to access the amazon clip?

I thought so too, but MD cover was a masterpiece, that when you look at it, you can tell it's telling you a story.

It is definately not MD(I wasn't expecting it to be like MD) but I am LOVING this clip. At first I didn't like it but now I can't stop listening to it. It makes you wanna get up and dance and Kelly's voice is so amazing in it. If this album is promoted right then Kelly is definately back.

My favorite cover is MD, followed by Thankful, and then Breakaway... I'm not very fond of the AIEW cover. I really think the Single Cover is much better!
Anyhow, I'm really hoping we will get a song that will showcase Kelly's full vocal range. I mean, we're heading into a fourth album, and we have not heard her whistle register since AI? I'd be happy with just a song like Christina's "Soar," where you hear it in the background.

I want a rock ballad... Hopefully there's one from the stuff that Ryan Tedder did. Or the ones from Howard Benson.

I want another Yeah for this album. Yeah is insanely good, the trumpets just ruined it. It's so sexy and edgy and very catchy.

I LOVE the way she sings "YOU GOT A PIECEEEE of me" That's probably my favorite part there - the verse part is really good too. I just love it!

I hope that if Save You is released as a single, it will blow Halo the other Tedder tracks away.

Anyhow, I'm really hoping we will get a song that will showcase Kelly's full vocal range. I mean, we're heading into a fourth album, and we have not heard her whistle register since AI? I'd be happy with just a song like Christina's "Soar," where you hear it in the background. I'd like to hear it too, if she still has "it." Which is a misleading comment anyway--has there ever been confirmation that she does, in fact, have a whistle register? I've been thinking about this for a while but with all the new album excitement didn't think it was the best time to bring it up, but now that someone has I'll ask about it. I talked to my sister (trained singer, musical theater major at UCLA), and she was describing the whistle register as an, obviously, rare register that is outside a typical voice range, and therefore not really trained or affected the same way one's "regular" range is (example: Mariah Carey's inability to belt the same way she used to, but still hit all her whistle notes). Kelly's "Natural Woman" note was an F# two octaves above middle C I believe (I'm not sure how the whole number system works with notes). There are plenty of more classically trained, broadway singers that hit this note without going into their whistle register, because they can "legitimately" (for lack of a better word) sing each note up to that point. The whistle is sort of a switch into a different register, so often singers "jump" in notes they can sing when they go into that note. So, if Kelly was indeed using her whistle register, she may not be able to sing a D two octaves above middle C, for example. I'm sure this is all very convoluted-sounding, but I was just curious whether people have just "decided" she has a whistle register because she hit this extremely high note--or is it that she just has a high soprano range? If it's the latter, it's certainly something you need to continually train to keep, while perhaps your whistle register is just something that stays easier... Obviously none of this is to detract from Kelly's immense vocal ability (she's by far my favorite artist/vocalist), I was just curious if people assigned her a whistle register just because they could, or if Kelly had ever mentioned it. Whistle registers are not indicative of great singers, necessarily, and I think the vocal range that most people marvel at with Kelly anyway is her chest voice range, which appears to be just over two octaves (pretty amazing, especially for a female). Anyway, sorry to clutter the message board with something other than total excitement and anticipation for new Kelly music!

I don't think Kelly's F#6 was whistle. I was more like a controled super head. It's not screaming, but It's super head, like a siren. Whistle like Mariah's are subtle and 'quiet' sounding. But I'm not saying that Kelly's untalented, because this girl can SANG. SANG. Anyways, I'm almost done for the day in this board, but before I go, I wish that she'd make another Where Is Your Heart.

I already love the older version but if you add Kelly's vocals and Ryan improving the production more, it's magic!

That's pretty much the opposite of how I would describe it.
